What should be in your Autumn Wardrobe?

Although we are still in August the shops are already stocking new season collections. I would advise to always have a minimum of 3 different suits for Autumn as your staple wardrobe – Dark brown, Dark Grey and Navy – these colours are practical and never date.

Here’s some suggestions on what to add to those wardrobe basics in 2016 to update your Autumn look.

1) Tartan and checks – creates a bit more interest with your outfits. I would advise to be a little more subtle if you are planning on wearing a full suit in a patterned fabric, as below.

With separates you can go a little wilder, either a jacket or trousers (not both). A waistcoat in a checked cloth would look great with a simple tone like navy. (Adding a pattern to an outfit makes it look as though you have a whole different  suit on when you mix and match with your basic wardrobe).

2) Copper tones – hot on the catwalk this season. I have a pair of trousers in this colour and it goes with much more than you think. Looks great in summer with a short sleeved top or pair with a black jumper for colder weather.

Ways to wear green smart and casual:

4) Military – I  like to pair some chinos with a nice cashmere jumper or throw on a military style overcoat with any outfit. Very versatile for day to evening and the colour will suit most skin tones.
